Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Implement the Bank’s Compliance frameworks, review and update policies and procedures to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal standards and guidelines.
  • Single point of contact on all risk and compliance matters in relation to PPFM, in consultation with Group Risk and Group Compliance.
  • In supporting the manager and Head of PPFM to drive and facilitate a culture of compliance across the PPFM.
  • Overall responsibility for completion of Compliance Self-Assessments (“CSA”) and Risk and Compliance Self-Assessments (“RCSA”) for PPFM.
  • Develop and implement a plan for checking the compliance controls of PPFM.
  •  Help ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting by PPFM, where required.
  • Ensure timely reporting and escalation of Risk and Compliance issues or incidences to management, Group Risk and Group Compliance.
  • Assist with the coordination of any regulatory information requests, including meetings and audits.
  • To support superiors in preparing monthly/ad-hoc reporting on incidences such as RCGC, CBR to senior management, Risk and Group Compliance teams
  • Working closely with Group Compliance to ensure all relevant new legislation and regulation applicable to PPFM is implemented in a timely manner.
  • Propose/recommend initiatives to improve existing internal processes and/or adopt new processes to comply with the revised/new regulatory requirements, where necessary impacting PPFM department.
  • To support PPFM’s sectional leaders in the review of policies and SOPs during annual review to ensure coherence to the Bank’s overall compliance and risk goals;
  • Build a close working relationship with Compliance, Hong Leong Islamic Bank to help ensure compliance with Syariah requirements as necessary.
  • Establish and share best practices, with reference to competitor benchmarks as appropriate.
  • Build a close working relationship with key stakeholders across the business unit, Group Risk, Group Compliance, Group Operations & Technology (including Legal), Group Internal Audit, and other business units and functions where relevant, in the implementation and enforcement of policies and guidelines.
  • To assist the PPFM Business Continuity Management Coordinator in dealing with EBC (Enterprise Business Continuity Team) on any business continuity matters and submission to Bank Negara/relevant authorities or to senior management members
  • To customize and deliver effective risk and compliance training and huddles to colleagues of PPFM continuously.
  • Drive compliance by PPFM with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal standards and guidelines.
  • Guide, mentor and coach PPFM team members on activities/initiatives to build up knowledge and experience of applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist in demonstrating to Head, PPFM that the bank's compliance is adequately managed through a robust 1st line of defense.
  • Break down "silos", integrating and streamlining processes across PPFM comply with the spirit and rule of legal and regulatory requirements.
Jobholder Requirements
  •  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Banking/Economics/Law
  • Possesses excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Minimum of 3 to 8 years’ managerial experience in a banking and financial Institution with responsibility for managing compliance or legal risk.
  • Knowledge of legislative aspects/regulatory requirements of banking and financial institutions and banking products is a key requirement.
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, through all levels of the organization.
  • Good leadership skills, with the ability to see the big picture without losing attention to detail.
  • Possesses analytical and critical thinking. Attentive to details and possesses investigative natur.e
