The overarching objective of the Manager, Cloud Services is to assist the wider team of the operational performance of AIA’s Group shared Public Cloud services. The role will ensure the smooth operation of the Public Cloud services by responding to business unit requests.

As a Cloud Solution Architect in our Cloud organization, you will be working with BU, decision makers, system administrators, cloud operations and systems integrators on daily basis, acting as the conduit between BU team and the infrastructure and product teams at AIA. With strong problem-solving skills and organizational awareness, you intervene where needed to ensure that roadblocks to success are removed as efficiently as possible. This is a key, multiparties role and requires a dedicated professional with an exceptional ability to manage relationships and the delivery partners.

You will be responsible to create and maintain governance and standards of cloud environments such as Azure (primary location) and AWS, while working with changing priorities from the team and other teams within Group Technology.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Define and maintain the overall Architecture governance framework for Cloud related services and organization predominantly Azure but with an AliCloud and AWS footprint) 

  • Develop and maintain the principles, standards, policies and solution governance that guide Cloud architecture 

  • Analyze wider industry trends and best practices to develop best-in-class Cloud direction 

  • Develop set of recommendations for the target state of an Cloud organization 

  • Develop architecture blueprints and roadmap for each service offering (business, application, infrastructure, information, process, tools, security, organization) 

  • Develop High-Level Architecture and High-Level Design for new Cloud service offerings 

  • Develop and manage the Cloud architecture solution review process 

  • Build a framework that focuses on alignment of business and Cloud architectures 

  • Provide timely information to guide planning & development of technology solutions to project teams 

  • Ensure publication and communication of Cloud Enterprise Architecture blueprints across organization 

  • Design for implementation/migration planning, infrastructure redundancy, upgrade/remediation strategies, process for moves/adds/changes, coordinate with vendors, back-out planning, go/no-go timeframes, engage in vendor certification, design validation and proof of concept testing, etc.. 

  • Identify value creation opportunities enabled by combining business insights with emerging or existing technologies  

  • Support Group Technical Risk to ensure compliance to all security requirements and standards 

Job Requirements :


  • Ability to demonstrate independent leadership, judgment, and decision making

  • Ability to adjust to multiple and changing priorities, remaining flexible and open

  • Ability to create and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of peer levels

  • Analytical and communication skills to understand business context; and enquire, counsel, and present solutions in an understandable and simple manner.

  • Strong communication skills and an aptitude for explaining complex technical topics to a general audience in business context

  • 5 or more years of experience in an enterprise software environment (in development, QA, support, operations, account management, or similar)

  • Knowledge of network structure, web application architectures, and related technologies

  • Knowledge of microservices and containerisation with as AKS

  • Knowledge of CDN, WAF and cloud security

  • Use of scripting languages (Python, Powershell, Bash etc.) to define processes and serverless functions

  • Proven track record of successfully managing customer relationships and technical projects

  • Experience in internal and external stakeholder management and engagement

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving and logical thinking skills

  • Understanding of Application Monitoring and Notification

  • Sound knowledge of DevOps, ARM, Terraform, GitLab etc.

Special Skills:

  • Be a self-starter and possess the confidence and skills to operate well within a team of highly skilled peers.

  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) patterns

  • Experience with ITIL or MOF (Microsoft Operations Framework). ITIL Certification is a plus

  • Knowledge of software virtualization patterns, Microsoft Azure, or other “cloud” environment specifics

  • Understanding of enterprise access management practices

  • Work autonomously and as part of a global team

  • Self-motivated and passion for self-development

  • Consulting and/or technical training experience

  • A desire to continually update, enhance and validate cloud skills (both practical and certification)

  • Be a self-starter and possess the confidence and skills to operate well within a team of highly skilled peers.
