Overview

The Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining the systems that allow organizations to function and communicate, both internally and externally, on a daily basis. Duty may include design, review and upgrading the companys communications infrastructure. This role reports to the Network Lead. The other key responsibilities are as detailed below:

Key Responsibilities:

• Establishing networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards;

• Design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment;

• Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimisation;

• Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources;

• Securing network system by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access;

• Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritising information and managing projects;

• Upgrading data network equipment to latest stable firmware releases;

• Configuration of routing and switching equipment;

• Capacity management and addressing audit review.

Jobholder requirements:

Education/Qualification:

• Malaysian citizen

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Engineering or a related field

Experience & Skillset

• More than 3 years of experience in network administration

• Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP)

• Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)

• Good to have the knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl)
